What is Dayschool?

Dayschool is the perfect solution for the busy pet parent. It is great for all dogs and includes Daycare and 45min-1hr of private training work, split into 1-2 sessions, tailored to 2-3 individual goals, including, but not limited to:

  1. Basic obedience, such as sit, down, stay, loose leash walking, redirecting jumping, recall, go to bed, and leave it;

  2. Tricks, such as shake, bow, roll over, spin, and sit pretty

Dayschool includes a thorough report card discussing all the behaviors worked on during the training session(s), the training techniques implemented, as well as a link to an instructional video for you to review and re-enact the drills at home. Full understanding of the methods used and daily practice is essential to set up your dog for success, allowing us to continue to raise the bar of difficulty in training each time your dog attends Dayschool.

Jumping Jack is a completely force-free facility, using positive reinforcement (i.e. treats) and negative punishment (i.e. turning away) techniques only. No prong collars, choke chains, shock collars, or any use of aversives will ever be used.

Dayschool is $50/day and includes Daycare for single day reservations. We can also add Dayschool to Boarding reservations for $50/day.

How do I know if my dog is a good fit? :
At Jumping Jack, your dog’s safety, joy, and well-being are our top priority. As such, all staff is trained on reading and interpreting dog-to-dog behavior and proper play etiquette. Play groups are supervised and created based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: temperament, age, size, and play style. We want to set your dog up for success and we do our very best to prevent your dog from learning problem behaviors such as excessive barking, fence fighting, fence aggression, and reactivity by creating play groups that do not have any shared fence lines. This creates a stress free environment so the dogs can also learn how to relax around other dogs. Dogs are given breaks at regular intervals so that they begin to build an off switch. If you would like your dog to come home with additional manners and mental stimulation, Jumping Jack also provides a day school option so that your dog can receive one-on-one training while you're away.

All daycare dogs receive an extensive behavior evaluation to determine if they are a candidate for group play. We do Daycare Evaluations every of the week. We do require Daycare Evaluations to be performed before boarding for major holidays and peak times. After their initial Evaluation, we offer Daycare 7 days a week. Please note, that we only take 7 "human time only" dogs at a time, due to the extra one on one time spent with staff. Because of this, we do not accept "Human Time Only" dogs for Daycare. However if you need them to come for the day, you can request a Dayschool reservation. For more information about Dayschool, see below.
Rules:
  1. Must be spayed/neutered if they are engaging in group play.
  2. Must pass appropriate play behavior evaluations with Jumping Jack Staff dogs before playing with others.
  3. No toys are allowed in play yards to prevent resource guarding.
  4. Absolutely no prong, shock, or chain collars allowed. Cloth or leather collars only.
  5. Playgroups cannot exceed 7 dogs per group unless there is a large hike to the pool.
  6. If your dog is involved in an altercation deemed to be their fault, they are moved to the "human time only" plan for the remainder of the day.
  7. Any additional altercations on future stays will result in them staying on the "human time only" path permanently. This doesn't mean your dog is aggressive, it just means they do best with people time only in this particular environment.
  8. Jumping Jack staff must supervise playgroups 100% of the time.
  9. Every group play dog gets the chance to have pool time.
  10. Must be current on vaccinations or vaccination titers (See vaccination policy here
  11. Must not show overt human aggression/ biting or growling towards staff. If they have this issue we can still accommodate but we will need to add a training package.
